Best fetes for Trinidad carnival
This is the first Trinidad Carnival post-panorama (you-know-what panini). Trinidad carnival 2023 did not come to play y’all. The signature well known fetes came back, like SBW, Duck Work, AM Beach... and some New Kids on the Block fetes joined the season like Just So by DJ Jel, to bring diversity, excitement and a little competition *wink wink* to the 2023 Carnival season.
The Mother of all Carnivals
Trinidad and Tobado is best known for their signature Carnival. Not only Trinidad Carnival is THE BEST SHOW ON EARTH, but it is also considered ” The Mecca”. Being the Blue Print of Carnival. So when it comes to fetes, you know Trinidad sets the standard.
In 2023 Carnival, I attended some of my all time favorite fetes, as well as some new ones that surprised me:

- Sunnation Sunrise Breakfast Party Trinidad – Feb 17

My experience: This was a nice warm up to get us in the mood for carnival. Nessa brought tons of artist like Nailah, Skinny Fabulous, TEMPA, Rome… the venue was small but it felt intimate and you could get close to the stage to see your Favorites. It would have been nice to have a welcome shot or some drinks provided. The highlight of the fete was that I was finally able to meet Nessa and take a pic. She is the sweetest.
Carnival Tuesday 14th
Pree Dawn Boat Ride
Location: Harbour Master Pier, Port of Spain, Trinidad
Time: 4:00 AM – 10:00 AM Type of fete: Cooler fete Boat Ride
Dress code: Casual
What’s included: Cooler fete. Food. Cash bar.
Cost: USD $60 and with fees $64.20
My experience: This was my first early boat ride. The DJ line up was good and then we had Bunji performing on the boat. Because it’s a cooler fete you can bring anything except for bottles, so make sure to pour into plastic bottles. It was a nice ride Down the Islands of Trinidad, watching the sunrise and feting away, just note is a little bit chilly at that time of day. The food was not on board but it was in tents when we docked so you could grab anything to sober up.

Location: O2 Park, Port of Spain, Trinidad
Time: 4:00 AM – 10:00 AM Type of fete: J’ouvert
Dress code: Stink and Dutty. Nothing you would want ruined. Old sneakers, bathing suit or shorts and tank top that you dont mind throwing away.
What’s included: Cooler fete. Food. Shots and beer from sponsors.
Cost: TTD $800 ~ USD $120
My experience: I really enjoyed this fete in 2023. This is a J’ouvert fete on Carnival Sunday for the Stink and Dutty lovers that cannot get enough of J’ouvert. Lots of paint and powder and then Water! Performances by top DJ’s and Soca Artist. Arrive early so you can find a spot to place your cooler and get into the vibes. If you dont have a cooler, they also have a cash bar where you can buy drinks. This is one of the fetes that I highly recommend (if you can find tickets). Tickets are very exclusive and hard to get, so keep that in mind when planning.
