Trinidad and Tobago Restaurants Guide:
Trinidad and Tobago Restaurants: If you don’t have a clue where to start your culinary experience in Trinidad or Tobago, I’ve put together a list of places that will give you a head start on your delicious experience.
Check it out!
TRINIDAD
Port of Spain Restaurants
As soon as you REACH and clear customs (don’t forget to grab your 2 duty free bottles of libations before leaving!), go find the Food court that is located right outside the airport, turn left and cross the street.
The food court has plenty of options to choose from, but your first Trini food experience should MUST be DOUBLES.
Thank me later 😉
Paulina Doubles: Doubles at the airport!
I am not going to get into what is DOUBLES and how to eat them, because a lot of information is out there. Just know it will blow your mind.
At the airport you can also find…
STAFFORDS
BREWS BISTRO
AL-HAAQ BBQ
D ROTI LOVERS
THE COCKPIT
ANN’S QUICK SNACK
Make sure you try doubles first and then everything else….
A must try during your visit…
KFC!
Listen, Linda Listen!… Don’t cuss me out just yet.
I am not a fast food lover, and have yet to remember last time I had KFC or McD’s in the US or anywhere else for that matter (Probably it was a late night run to Waffle House after some libations)…
BUT this is not your regular shmegular American KFC!
THIS IS TRINI STYLE KFC!!!
Trinbagonians will swear by their KFC and trust me, they will not allow for chicken to be sold marinated in bland salt and pepper (side eying you America). This is island spices KFC, a.k.a. KFC on Crack!
Before you sweep this under the rug, certainly give it just one try. I did not regret it and bet you will love it too!
Irie Bites
Location: 71A Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook , Trinidad and Tobago
This is for all your jerks fixes. Right off the Ariapita avenue they will make your all time favorites: Calaloo, fried yucca, plantains, with all types of proteins jerk style.
You can even use their app and order online!
After all, with so many mouth watering options took me a minute or two to make up my mind, but they delivered.
Curry Queen
Get your Roti fix from the true Queen of Roti’s.
Thank me later!
Yousef Gyros
Location: Corner Ariapita Avenue & Murray St., Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
Texan Ranch
TOBAGO
Touchdown to Tobago and leave the airport (no duty free here…), cross the street and your first stop should be Good Eats.
Good Eats
Location: A.N.R. Robinson International Airport (TOB), Crown Point, Trinidad & Tobago
Order the BAKE AND SHARK, grilled or fried (can’t go wrong with either option), add Shado Beni Sauce a.k.a Bandaña Sauce (this is a non-spicy sauce and it only adds flavor) and enjoy!
Tri Star Restaurant
Also located across the airport, this restaurant is hot and ready buffet style with a lot of local options.
Everything sells fast and food is delicious. If you don’t believe me, check out the pics…
Liz’s by D’Bay
Located in the Pigeon Point Fish Market just before you reach the beach.
She has this cute little shop where she makes everything fresh to order.
TRUST ME it is worth the wait.
She starts her business as early as 6am for the working crowd that need her delicious breakfast to get the day started and for us travelers, it was my last culinary stop prior heading back home.
Start with an order of smoked herrings. You are not seeing double, all her orders come in pairs!
Try the bake and shark! To die for….
Another favorite, SALT FISH!
TRY EVERYTHING! *remember carbs don’t count on vacation*.
To this day, I still dream of Liz’s food. This one was an all time favorite! I could eat here all day everyday.
Chef’s BBQ
Location: Milford Rd, Crown Point, Trinidad and Tobago
You will find this spot off the main road. These guys have one of the best grilled fish I had during my stay in Tobago. Marinated to perfection with so much flavor and juiciness, I couldn’t believe it was fish!!!!
At first it looks like a fast food place however, their meals are very fresh. Try the grilled fish with coconut corn. Fingerlicking good!
Cafe Coco Restaurant
Location: Bon Accord Village, Tobago, Trinidad And Tobago
Nice sit down restaurant on the high end of prices. Great option when you are tired of fast food places or just want to relax in another setting than beach chairs.
I ordered the catch of the day, which was grilled King fish with 3 sides.
Traditions Bar and Grill
Location: Pigeon Point Rd, Trinidad and Tobago
Store Bay Beach: Food Court
Store Bay Beach has a food court with all fresh imaginable dishes.
When in the beach, eat from the sea. Am I right?
But if you are not into seafood there are other options like oxtail, lamb, chicken, pork, etc….
Misstrims
ALMAS FOOD
SYLVYAS FOOD
JOICES KITCHEN
Miss Esmie’s local dishes
Miss Jeans
Darryl’s Famous Food
Location: Bon Accord, Tobago, Trinidad And Tobago
Skewers – Middle Eastern grill
Mount Irvine Bay – Beach Restaurant & Bar
Jenny’s Dinner
Jade Cafe
Yasraj Roti Hut
With so many options you just can’t go wrong with Trini food. Give these restaurants in Trinidad and Tobago a try and let me know if you liked any!
